    According to a June 29 report from the Las Cruces Association of Realtors, a total of 901 new and existing homes, townhomes and condominiums closed escrow between January 1 and June 29 of this year. Of that number, 788, or 87.5 percent, were located in Las Cruces zip codes 88001, 88005, 88007, 88011, 88012, 88047 and 88048. The remaining 113 properties were located in the far north and south areas of Dona Ana County and in Otero and Sierra counties. This report pertain only to closings that took place in local Las Cruces zips.

    The report revealed that homebuyers overwhelmingly chose three-bedroom homes, which accounted for 473, or 60 percent, of the 788 closed sales. The median sales price in the category was $281,400. Four-bedroom homes accounted for 219, or 27.8 percent of sales, making this category the second most popular. It’s median price was $358,000. Together, the two categories made up 87.8 percent of all Las Cruces-area sales.

    Two-bedroom home-sales carried a median price of $210,000 and was the third most popular category with the 73 closed escrows representing 9.3 percent of sales. Purchases of one-bedroom homes were all but nonexistent, with just four sales booked during the first half of the year. Buyers paid a median price of $149,500 for the bedroom-challenges properties. Rounding out the report are the 15 five-bedroom homes that brought a median price of $450,000, and the three six bedroom homes that carried a median price of $340,000.
